What Environment Wing Do?

Environment wing is one of the three important wings of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’.

Environment and climatic conditions entangle our lives in an inseparable way. Hence, destruction of nature will eventually lead to the destruction of mankind. And so, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ works to create awareness among people through their Environment wing.

The target set in the sustainable development goal within the year 2030 by the United Nations includes environment and climate with greater importance. In SDG, the 13, 14, 15 which are respectively Climate Action, Life under Water, Life on Land declares to work with the environment and climate.

‘1/24 Social Movement’ is paving its way ahead to benefit the environment and biodiversity with their Environment wing.

To maintain a sound ecological balance, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ arranges extensive tree plantation programmes every year. On any harm to the environment, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ protests making human chains and other proper steps.

To raise awareness and encourage people to be merciful to the animals, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ celebrates the ‘World Animal Day’ every year. They rescue and provide treatment to stray dogs and other animals. They remove nails from trees to make sure the trees are intact.

‘1/24 Social Movement’ organizes seminars, meetings and training programmes to support deforestation and ultimately serve the environment.

Besides that, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ provides tree plantation equipment to different institutions.

Recent Activities

Activities of the Environment wing at a glance from 2018:

  1. Celebrated ‘World Animal Day’ 2018.
  2. Removal of nails from trees in the Chittagong Medical College premises.
  3. Planted moreover 39,200 trees in the year 2019.
  4. Mass awareness raise and human chain formation to protest the Amazon forest destruction.
  5. Celebrated ‘World Animal Day’ 2019.
  6. Free training on tree plantation in their own residences.
  7. Present a water trolley to water the plants to the Management department of the University of Chittagong.
  8. Human chain formation to protect endangered wild elephants.

Our Goals for the future

  • Plantation of at least 30,000 trees all around the country.
  • Extensive afforestation programme in Cox's Bazar.
  • Observing 'World Animal Day' every year without any failure.
  • Continuing animal rescue and providing treatments to them.

Environment Wing Responsible for

1. Climate Action –
The environment wing of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’ is working relentlessly to maintain the ecological balance of the Earth. Materializing the goal of Climate action by SDG as declared by the United Nations is what ‘1/24 Social Movement’ is focused on. Starting from acting on something harmful to nature to creating awareness among people, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ emphasizes on tree plantation as well.
2. Tree Plantation –

The environment wing of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’ is working with the aim of massive tree plantation every year. The environment wing of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’ has planted a lot of trees all around the city of Chittagong in collaboration with the American Centre, Chittagong.

  • The environment wing has planted 39,200 trees in the Chittagong division in the year 2019.
  • The environment wing has planted 37,000 trees in the Chittagong division in the year 2020.
 
3. Biodiversity –
In case of environment protection, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ does not depend solely on tree plantation. It functions discreetly with the biodiversity of the Earth.
 
4. Protection against Pollution-

Pollution doesn’t bring about disaster to the environment only, it equally affects human health. ‘1/24 Social Movement’ raises their voice against pollution or anything that harms the environment and creates mass awareness.

‘1/24 Social Movement’ observes and celebrates the ‘World Animal Day’ every year since its inception.

In protest of the mass deforestation order of the government in the Amazon, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ has taken several steps including human chain, the news of which was published in the daily newspapers.

Besides that, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ often sets off to remove nails from the trees.

 
5. Life on Land –
The environment wing of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’ rescues and pays for treatment of street dogs and other rescued animals. Until now, 60 animals have been treated by the Veterans on ‘1/24 Social Movement’s’ call.
 
6. Life under water –
To ensure a safe and sound environment for the animals living in water, the environment wing of the ‘1/24 Social Movement’ regularly cleans beaches.
