By ‘1/24 Social Movement’s initiative, the tree plantation program has been organized in the University of Chittagong. This program was co-organized by the Chittagong University Debating Society and Young Economists’ Society (YES).
The program was inaugurated with plantation at the administrative building by the acting Vice-chancellor Shirin Akhter. Along with the founder of ‘1/24 Social Movement’ – Mr. Mohammad Shahab Uddin, Assistant Professor, Management Department, University of Chittagong, Professor Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, dean, faculty of biological science, Abu Noman, dean, faculty of law, Professor Dr. Kamrul Huda, Hasan Mohammad Roman Shubho, Assistant Professor, Faculty of law were present.
In this regard, Vice-Chancellor Shirin Akhter says, the developing and underdeveloped countries are facing disastrous situations due to severe climate change. To overcome these situations, there’s no alternative to afforestation. He thanked the founder of ‘1/24 Social Movement’ Mr. Shahab Uddin for his wonderful project of 1 lakh tree plantation. The coordinator Mr. Rubel Das and finance manager of ‘1/24 Social Movement’ Mr. Rubel Ahsan was present there. Additionally, from the Chittagong University Debating Society, the President Mr. Himandri Shekhor Nath, and General Secretary Mr. Arif Shujon attended the plantation ceremony. From the Young Economists Society (YES), the ex-President Mr. Abdullah Al Masum, the current President Mr. Mishuk Roy, Vice -President Abdullah Didar attended the ceremony.
About 100 students plant 1000 trees on the campus premises.
Please note, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ has been working towards a goal to plant 1 lakh trees in this season and about 37000 trees have been planted already in different places of the district of Chittagong.
