World Animal Day ‘19

In continuity of the previous year, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ has celebrated World Animal Day this year. On this occasion, ‘1/24 Social Movement’ has arranged an awareness campaign and beach cleaning activity on Friday at Anondo Bajar Chouchala Sea beach in Halishohor, Chittagong.

The programme was hosted by the environment coordinator Rumana Rifat Rimki under the chairmanship of Mr. Rubel Das, General Secretary, ‘1/24 Social Movement’.

The main discussers of the programme were Lion Jamal Uddin, businessman and social worker and Lion Chashi Matin Rahman, Manager, Cosmos Group.

Lion Jamal Uddin, in his speech, said “Both humans and the animals are the creations of the Almighty. As stated in Islam, humans – being the Ashraful Makhlukat got responsibilities towards the animal world, to show them mercy and provide them with a suitable environment to live in.

Chashi Matin Rahman, in his speech, said, “Both humans and animals have the equal rights to live. Humans don’t have the authority to snatch any animal’s comfort or even life. But, in today’s world, it seems like humans are in an unannounced competition to make Earth uninhabitable for the animals.” He encouraged everyone to come out of this madness and be sympathetic to the animal world.

Hannan Muhammad Chowdhury quoted, “animals are the helpless preys of the cruel capitalistic economy, and the last one to pay for it in the Amazon.”

Rubel Das addressed everyone saying, “There are almost 390 wild animals who are endangered some way or the other and only we are to behold responsible for this act, ignorant of the fact that their extinction will eventually cause ours. So, to ensure our survival, we must safeguard their sound survival.”

Rumana Rifat Rimki delivers a written speech. Natasha Tazwar, Hamida Akhter, Ashraful Hoque and Al-Mamun were also given the floor to deliver their valuable speeches.

In the second phase, Lion Chashi Matin Rahman requested the arrived visitors not to throw garbDAY here and there and later cleaned the whole sea beach along with the other members of ‘1/24 Social Movement’.

The programme ended with the speech by the founder of ‘1/24 Social Movement’ – Mr. Mohammad Shahab Uddin, Assistant Professor, Management Department, University of Chittagong. He expressed his gratitude to everyone for participating in the campaign and making it a success.
